Classes

 

In Up 'n' Over agility classes, we focus on FUN for the dogs and their handlers, by gradually building up confidence through success and positive training.  Every dog and handler team is treated as individuals, with their own set of motivators and goals.

 

Most of all, at Up 'n' Over we encourage you to:

ALL lessons take place at:

3869 PRITCHARD DRIVE, WESTBANK BC

Please be respectful – this is a working Apple Orchard so please park in between the rows of apple trees and be careful not to knock or damage the trees and branches. Drive down the driveway slowly as there may be workers and animals near by.

Please keep your dog on leash. 

Classes are run outside on grass – RAIN, SNOW, WIND or SUN so please dress accordingly and wear good running shoes or cleats.

ALL participants are required to help with set up and take down of the agility equipment. 

 

You will need:

Your dog – 11 months or older depending on breed.

Your dog should know the basic obedience commands

bullet

Updated immunizations / titres including Bordatella (kennel cough)

bullet

Regular collar and 6 ft leash

bullet

Soft, smelly treats (rollover, hotdogs, cheese, or liver work well)

bullet

Your dogs favorite toy (ball or tug)

bullet

POOP BAGS – you are required to pick up after you dog AND TAKE IT HOME!!!!

Puppy Basics

Teach those agility dogs in the making, the FUNdamentals for jumping as well as impulse control and focus exercises. These classes are designed for young baby dogs under 1 year old. These classes will be taught with a clickers which is included in your registration fee.

Prerequisite: None required, but puppy obedience recommended.

Maximum of 10 puppies in this class.

 

 

Introductory Flyball

Saturday September 26th - Saturday November 7th

11:00am - 11:30am

$60 + $3 (GST) = $63

 

 

Learn the FUNdamentals of Flyball. This class is limited to a maximum of 10 dogs. No Pre-requiste required. Ball motivation an asset but not mandatory.

 

 

Practice Sessions "Flyball"

Saturday September 26th - Saturday November 7th

11:00a, - 11:30am

$60 + $3 (GST) = $63

 

Prerequisite: Must have completed previous flyball classes.

 

 

Introductory Agility

Saturday September 26th - Saturday November 7th

10:00am - 11:00am

$120 + $6 (GST) = $126

 

 

This class is designed for anyone who has never tried agility or for young dogs.  You and your dog will learn all about agility and the various obstacles.  At the end of the 8 weeks, you and your dog should be able to successfully complete a mini agility course.  Some obstacles will require further practice and aid.  Pre-registration required.  These classes fill quickly so register early.

Prerequisite: None required, but basic obedience recommended.

 

 

Practice Sessions "Agility"

By appointment only

 

Prerequisite: handler must have previous agility experience.

 

Beginner Agility

Saturday September 26th - Saturday November 7th

10:00 - 11:00am

$120 + $6 (GST) = $126

 

Pre-requisite: Introductory agility or equivalent.

In this class you and your dog will become proficient on most of the agility equipment.  Weave poles and teeter totter may still need some aid.  Pre-registration required.  These classes fill quickly so register early.

 

 

Intermediate I & II

Pre-requisite: completion of Beginner agility or equivalent

If you had fun in beginner lessons, be sure not to miss the Intermediate I and Intermediate II. In this class we will work more on handling techniques and proofing obstacle performance. Again, these classes fill quickly, so don't wait to register!

 

Advanced I & II

TBA

 

Pre-requisite: completion of Intermediate agility or equivalent.

These classes will deal with more complex sequences and handling. Great for anyone who wants to challenge themselves and their dog while having fun or for those wishing to compete. Space is limited so register early.

 

 

Masters Agility

TBA

 

Pre-requisite: at least at the starters level in competition.

This class with be designed for those already competing in Dog Agility. Small sequences will be set up to work individual skills. You will work in small groups with your fellow classmates but you will get individual instruction each week to work problem areas.

 

Games

Want to run full courses? Each week a student will design and help set up a full course from Standard to Snooker, Gamblers, Jumpers, Team Relay and Steeplechase. Various levels from Starters to Masters courses will be used. Come out and have some fun with your dog.

Prerequisite: Dogs must be able to run sequences and be comfortable with the equipment.

 

Go The Distance -

Pre-requisite: completion of Advanced agility or equivalent

This class is designed to teach both dogs and handlers to work comfortably at a distance in agility. You will begin to teach your dog to move ahead of you and to work laterally away from you. Your dog must be confident on all agility equipment. Space is limited.

 

 

Junior Handlers -

Teach your dog to run through tunnels, scramble up an A-Frame, tip a teeter-totter and much more. Agility classes for Junior Handlers - date and time to be announced.

This fun class is geared toward young people between 8 - 14 and will combine basic obedience skills with agility instruction. Participants will build their own practice jump to keep. Space is limited.

 

 

 

 

PRIVATE LESSONS -

Cost is $20.00 for 1/2 hour or $40.00 for 1 hour.
